Working with MS Patients

We will work with M.S. patients to improve their ability to walk, transfer (in and out of chairs, bathtubs, cars etc.), get up after falling, improve strength and endurance etc. PT can help to improve range of motion and flexibility as well. Patients are often excited to see changes in balance and coordination that is the result of therapeutic exercise. Aquatic therapy is also offered at Capital Physical Therapy. This can be an effective way to build strength, flexibility and endurance.

M.S. comes in several different “forms and varieties” and no two patients are ever exactly the same. At Capital Physical therapy the process starts with an in depth initial evaluation where we look to gain an understanding of what your specific problems/issues are. We ask you about your specific goals for PT. From there, it is our job to design a program that helps you to reach these goals. A huge part of the process is education. It is important to make sure that the therapist and patient are “on the same page.” Patients are encouraged to play an active role in their therapy by providing feedback and suggestions along with asking questions during their treatment.
